เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยแห่งแรกของลอนดอน และมหาวิทยาลัยเก่าแก่อันดับ 3 ของอังกฤษ (รองจาก Oxford และ Cambridge) โดยที่ Campus หลักจะอยู่ใน Central London ซึ่งได้รับการจัดอันดับให้เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยอันดับ Top 10 ของโลกในทุกๆปี และติดอันดับต้นๆ ของโลกโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในสาขาวิชาวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ วิทยาศาสตร์ แพทย์ คอมพิวเตอร์ เศรษฐศาสตร์ สถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ และศิลปศาสตร์ ประกาศเปิดรับสมัครนักเรียนชั้น ม.6 หรือเทียบเท่า เข้าเรียนต่อในหลักสูตร International Foundation สำหรับรอบการศึกษาทุกกันยายน

โดยหลักสูตรจะแบ่งออกเป็น 2 สาขาใหญ่ดังนี้

• UCL Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for Science and Engineering (UPCSE)
• UCL Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for the Humanities (UPCH)
• UCL Undergraduate Preparatory Certificate for Architecture (UPCH & UPCSE)
